How do you improve Efficiency Index?
—————————————————————–
Drill: Step Swing
—————————————————————–
Problem
Efficiency Index is not optimized because of low Energy Transfer or Velocity Direction, resulting in a loss of distance and accuracy.
Solution
1. Place feet in the prescribed Base of Support (see Base of Support drill) and body into proper posture (see Posture Stick drill). This will allow the torso to rotate efficiently around a neutrally aligned spine.
2. Orientate your stance back from the ball-target line.
3. Imagine that each foot is standing on the rail of a railroad track.
4. Step your trail foot forward on the rail, and then make a backswing while maintaining pressure on the ball of your foot and flex in your hip, knee, and ankle.
5. Holding this backswing position, step your target side foot on the target rail then make a downswing, maintaining pressure on the ball of the target foot and flex in your hip, knee, and ankle.
This completes 1 repetition. Perform drill 2×10 repetitions.
Focus Keys
Deliberately move through each step as if doing Tai Chi. (Rushing through this drill will not reap the same rewards.)
Goal
The goal of this drill is to increase your Efficiency Index score by properly sequencing the backswing and downswing movements of the golf swing from the ground up to create an efficient release pattern and maximum clubhead velocity at impact.
